About

ConvertVid is a free video conversion service that may be used by all, with queue priority given to Incero clients! Use our sample code or write your own to integrate with our simple API. Your videos will be converted on our servers and your server will be notified when the job is done.

Getting Started

Simply email gordon@incero.com with the IP address that you will be submitting conversion jobs from, we will then add your IP to our whitelist and email your control panel login details to you.

Capacity

At any one time we have approximately 10 machines assigned to video conversions. If the queue for Incero client's conversion jobs exceeds 5 minutes then more servers will automatically be brought online using cloud technology. Additional servers will not be spawned for other users, but in general most jobs will wait less than a few minutes even during peak times. The system has been tested to convert in excess of 25,000 videos per day, and can easily scale to millions of daily conversions.

How does it work?

1. Submit a job detailing the URL of the source video, MD5, conversion parameters, and a callback URL.
2. You are provided with a job id.
3. We grab and convert your video.
4. We notify your callback URL that the job is complete and provide a URL of the video file and the MD5 of the file.
5. You grab the video.
6. We delete the video from our systems 1 hour after conversion.

How does the queue work?

• Jobs are queued by submitting IP address with each submitter only being allowed 1 concurrent conversion if others are waiting in the queue.
• If no others are waiting then there are no limits to how many concurrent conversions can be running for any submitter.
• Priority is given to Incero.com dedicated server clients (who this system was originally built for).

What limitations are there?

There are no limitations on the number of conversions, file size, or video length.
